It has been independently ranked as the world's fourth-largest copper deposit by international mining consultant Wood Mackenzie from 2025. Production guidance for Kamoa-Kakula in 2023 is set between 390,000 and 430,000 tonnes copper in concentrate at cash costs between $1.40-1.50 per pound of payable copper. Following the completion of the Phase 3 expansion in late 2024, Kamoa-Kakula is expected to produce approximately 650,000 tonnes of copper annually at estimated cash costs of $1.20-$1.25 per pound.
